Max Verstappen is ‘misunderstood’ by everyone in F1, claims his sim racing teammate
Red Bull ace Max Verstappen often makes comments that land him in the bad books of the F1 fans. But his sim racing partner claims that the Dutchman is misunderstood.
Atze Kerkhof, Verstappen’s online racing teammate for the Team Redline, has known the 2-time world champion since 2014. He believes that Verstappen is very direct and he always speaks the truth and it does not sit well with the world.
Speaking at the Team Redline interview, Kerkhof said, “Verstappen is very ‘Dutch’ when it comes to his communication and it helps him and the people that work with him.

Max Verstappen is wrongly viewed
Furthermore, Kerkhof said that the Dutchman is wrongly viewed by the fans due to his honest and direct nature.
He opined that the messed up thing about F1 is that it is such a show. “But you cannot take the truth separate from the acts anymore,” he explained.
Verstappen won two back-to-back championships and has 35 GP wins in his bag. He is now looking forward to 3 successive world titles as he heads into the new season.

Verstappen and Perez had a blip in Brazil
At the 2022 Brazil GP, Verstappen refused to follow the team’s orders to let his teammate Sergio Perez overtake and it caused a lot of tussle between the two.
The Dutchman made his feelings public about not letting another driver pass him on the team radio but he did not reveal the reason behind it.
Perez, in the aftermath of the race, felt disappointed by Verstappen’s behaviour and said that he helped him a lot in his run for championships so his actions today reveal what he really is on the inside.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, when asked if the confidence between his two drivers is now unified, said, “Absolutely! What we had in Brazil was a blip.”
He revealed that the drivers maturely discussed the issues between them and the duo is now working as team members.
