“Starting to think Nikola Jokic is a little overrated”: Mike Malone Lays Down Sarcasm After Winning Without 2x MVP
After going 4-0 in their recent homestand, the Denver Nuggets flew to Los Angeles to face the Clippers for a mere one-game road trip. A day before the contest, Nikola Jokic was downgraded from questionable to out due to right wrist management.
Despite playing without their best player, the Colorado-based organization managed to get the best of a Paul George-less LAC. A contest that witnessed 7 lead changes and 7 ties, ended with Mike Malone’s boys clinching a 115-103 win.

Just a few days after recording a season-high 33 points, Kawhi Leonard managed to put up yet another incredible performance. Knocking down 50% FG and going 100% from the free throw line, the Klaw had 24 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the losing effort.
Mike Malone teases Nikola Jokic after grabbing win in his absence
Without the back-to-back MVP having suited up, the rest of the players on the roster stepped up big time.
Jamal Murray, who Mike Malone believes should get All-Star consideration, dropped a game-high 24 points & 8 rebounds on an efficient 47.1/57.1/100 shooting split. Michael Porter Jr. went off for 22 points, while role players like KCP and Aaron Gordon combined for 31 points.
Having played a near-perfect game without the Serbian superstar, Denver Nuggets HC sarcastically teased the Joker. In the postgame interview, Malone jokingly called Jokic “overrated”.
“I’m starting to think Nikola’s a little overrated,” Malone said.

Denver Nuggets can thank the Joker for their success
The Nuggets have by far been one of the best teams in the association. Currently sitting #1 in the West, Denver is 0.5 games clear of the Grizzlies.
No doubt, all the players are responsible for the same, however, Jokic must be given most of the credits.
A frontrunner to win his 3rd MVP trophy, the European big man is averaging 24.9 points, 11 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game.
Is Nikola Jokić making the case for a third straight MVP? 🤔🃏
