Marco Jansen IPL team 2023: Marco Jansen in IPL 2023 auction price

Not even the best of batters in the world of T20 Cricket have the capability to smash the Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan for as many as 28 runs in an Over. But the South African allrounder Marco Jansen made sure to not only have a crack at the leg-spinning maestro, but also guide his team to a two-wicket victory.

During the 12th match of the ongoing SA20 2023, Jansen played a blinder of an innings – 66 off 27 balls at no.7 in the batting order, to help the Sunrisers Eastern Cape notch-up a seemingly improbable victory against the MI Cape Town (MICT).

With five wickets down, another 80 odd runs required off the final eight Overs and very little batting to follow, the tall allrounder smashed 3 Fours and 7 Sixes before a bowling attack featuring the likes of Rashid, Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran, and Jofra Archer.

He was particularly severe on Rashid and Rabada (to who he ultimately got Out to), and helped register his side back-to-back home and away wins against the MICT within a span of two days.

After a decent enough performance during IPL 2022, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) decided to retain Marco Jansen in their squad for IPL 2023 as well.

Jansen was roped in by the SRH during IPL 2022 mega auction last year, at the price of INR 4.20 Crore.

Marco’s twin brother Duan Jansen is part of SA20 as well, and features in the MICT squad. However, he was not part of the side’s playing XI in yesterday’s fixture.

As far as the IPL is concerned, Duan was roped in by the Mumbai Indians (MI) during last month’s mini auction at the base price of INR 20 Lakh. It will be interesting to see whether or not he does manage to make his IPL debut as well this year.
