Is Jayson Tatum Playing Tonight vs Raptors? Celtics Issue Injury Report for 2023 MVP Front Runner

The Boston Celtics head out on the road for a three-game road trip, starting with the Toronto Raptors tonight. After Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown carried the team to a win in the 2022 Finals rematch over the Warriors, the team’s spirits would be high. Down 11 points, the Cs managed a 4th quarter comeback and then outscored the Dubs 15-12 in the OT to win the game.

Jayson Tatum scored 34 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, and dished six assists as he led the Cs to the 121-118 win to tie the season series.

As the Celtics head to Toronto tonight, fans wonder whether Tatum will suit up against the Raptors or would he be on the bench.

Jayson Tatum is OUT against the Raptors

Playing 48 minutes the Warriors, Jayson Tatum ensured that the TD Garden fans did not witness back-to-back losses against the Dubs. He did it all for the team, and played way more than his usual 37 minutes a night.

Because of the added minutes, the team has decided to rest Tatum for the matchup against the Raptors. They have listed it as left wrist soreness.

Tatum has been leading the Celtics all season long and is averaging 31.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists a game. He’s currently in the 2nd spot on the MVP ladder.

While the Celtics have a deep enough roster that they would be able to survive a game without Tatum, they need him if they want to keep their 1st seed. However, thankfully, the injury isn’t anything major, and maybe is listed as so to avoid the ‘rest’ penalty issued by the NBA.
