Mohammad Shami clears Yo-Yo test, available for England Test series
Indian speedster Mohammad Shami has cleared Yo-Yo test upon the second attempt and would be available for the five-match England Test series.
Despite a turbulent personal life and a forgettable IPL, Mohammd Shami got a place in the India Test squad touring England. The series had to be played after the limited overs leg but players from all the squads were subjected to a Yo-Yo Test.

Unfortunately, Sanju Samson, Mohammad Shami and Ambati Rayudu were the three players that could not pass the test and were dropped from the squad. However, as per latest reports, Shami has now passed the Test and would now be available for the England series.

After the decision to drop players, there were voices of dissent from several corners. HCA Secretary Sheshnarayan was particularly miffed as he questioned the validity of the Test.
“This looks very lopsided and deep-rooted. Since a person who got nearly the highest runs in IPL this year and has also played all the 50-over games in the domestic season, he now finds himself unfit on some highly overrated fitness tests. How can an unfit person score so many runs? This is very harsh and draconian. HCA will stand by its players and fight for their rights.
We know what is going on behind the scenes and people are taking advantage of the fluid situation in the BCCI and pushing decisions. We demand that the process of the tests be made transparent and open to public domain,” demanded the Secretary.
The last time Mohammad Shami played for India, it was the least Test of the three-match Test series against South Africa. Shami was India’s highest wicket-taker in the series and also took a fifer in the second innings of the last Test to contribute in India’s memorable victory.
