“Don’t let FIA screw you in Spa”, says Hamilton in ‘A letter to my younger self’ video
Formula 1 came up with a brilliant Lewis Hamilton video today, titled ‘A letter to my younger self’.
It was a brilliant cinematic experience, a video that described Hamilton’s life in Formula 1 right from his debut.
And the narrative was spectacular, as it showed Hamilton talk to his younger self in a very poignant manner, telling him the experiences that awaited him in this extraordinary journey.
The video was coming along really well(and did tell the last second), however, there was this one 10 second phase, wherein Hamilton spoke about the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix incident.
Hamilton(a McLaren driver at that time was pushed down to 3rd on the podium despite winning the race on the track, as he had a small little incident with Kimi.
Hamilton and Raikkonen were going at each other for the lead, and Hamilton cut the chicane and rejoined the race in front of Kimi.
The Brit allowed Kimi to overtake him, but managed a brilliant overtaking manoeuvre on the next corner to regain the race lead.
The stewards gave Hamilton a 25 second penalty for the entire incident, a penalty that snatched the race win away from Hamilton.
“Don’t let the FIA screw you in Spa,” he said.
“You’ve got to be careful.
“They will say it’s OK for you to let Kimi by and that you’ve done enough. And at the end of the race they will not let you keep that win.
“So you have to do double, you have to do more. Let Kimi by and give him a good margin so they can’t use it as an excuse.” Hamilton said in the video.
