Hamilton had asked Formula 1 to replace Rosberg as post race interviewer for Monaco and Hockenheim

The Rosberg-Hamilton rivalry in the 2016 season was one of the most fabulous spectacles in recent F1 history, with Rosberg edging Hamilton out in the end in what would have been a very tense season in the Mercedes camp.

Rosberg retired post that world title, but Hamilton marched along and has been very successful in the last few years.

However, those scars of the past still persist for Hamilton, as according to a report in BILD, Hamilton has asked the FOM to replace Rosberg as the post race interviewer at Hockenheim.

Hamilton had also put in this plea during Monaco, and the FOM responded with an affirmative, asking Rosberg to step aside.

Rosberg was initially slated to these interviews, but a couple of days back he received a communication from the FOM, stating that he wasn’t needed for the post race interviews.

“It was for Monaco and Hockenheim so thought. Both times I had already gotten the release of RTL. But then came a few days before the message that there is no need.” Rosberg said, as quoted by BILD.

In the report from BILD, they state that after a little follow up on the entire event, BILD learnt that Hamilton had indeed asked FOM to take this step as he wasn’t quite fond of being questioned by his former colleague.

The teammates who had a fractious relationship during that intense 2016 season have apparently moved further apart because of what transpired on and off the track during that time.

But it does seem a little unfair on Hamilton’s part to actually force Rosberg out of his post race interviews because of this.
