Mancheser United targets Barcelona’s Yerry Mina

United have had a rough time in their pre-season tour so far, as the club is without a win in four games.

Jose Mourinho has big aspirations for his third season in charge at the Old Trafford. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager is hoping to win the Premier League. That’s the major trophy left for him to win with the Red Devils, having already won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League titles.

The Portuguese boss is infamous for his tactics of going defensive. At the same time, he also can bring counter attacking football into the frame as was seen during his tenure with Real Madrid. Jose is now keen on introducing a slight combination of both styles at the Old Trafford from 2018/19. Hence, he wants to build a team around wingers and centre backs.

While United have been linked with a large number of wingers, realistic and concrete approaches have only been made for centre back targets. The Red Devils had their bids rebuffed for three main targets- Toby Alderweireld, Leonardo Bonucci and Raphael Varane. They then turned their attention to Harry Maguire, but Leicester City’s demand for €75 million put them off.

Yerry Mina currently plies his trade at Barcelona, where he joined in January. But lack of opportunities and poor clarity regarding the future have forced him to look for a move away.

He was one of Colombia’s key players during the World Cup in Russia and got three goals, including the stoppage time equaliser against England.

Jose Mourinho now believes that Yerry Mina has the potential to become one of the world’s best. He has already asked Barcelona to allow him to leave for less than his stated fee of €60 million.

United will supposedly bid worth €45 million with hopes of bringing in their target. Yerry Mina’s addition could be a huge step towards top spot in the Premier League due to his contribution in all departments of the game
