Jose Mourinho blocks Lyon’s move for Victor Lindelof
Manchester United’s defence has been a cause of worry for the club for many years now.
Manchester United are in the transfer market looking for a centre back. The Red Devils have been linked with a high number of players who could have been signed, however, nobody has arrived yet. Jose Mourinho also showed his displeasure upon his preferred targets not being signed by Ed Woodward & Co.
The Red Devils have another task on their hand, which is to keep Victor Lindelof safe from leaving the club. They signed Lindelof for £31 million from Portuguese giants Benfica last summer, but the 24 year old has been unable to break into the club’s starting line-up.
Jose Mourinho has not been too fond of the Swedish defender despite spending heavily on him. The former Chelsea boss has always preferred Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling over Lindelof, to his discontent.
As a result, there have been a few teams hovering around the former Benfica defender. The latest of them was Olympique Lyon from France who wanted his services, but Jose Mourinho has asked the club to block any transfer offers for the Sweden international.
Lindelof had a low-key start to his United career making only 13 Premier League appearances last campaign. However, he was impressive for Sweden in the World Cup.
Lindelof is currently on extended vacation and not with the team in the United States for pre-season. He was allowed an additional off period following his performance in Russia which guided Sweden till the quarter finals.

In other news, the Red Devils are still hoping to recruit a centre back this summer. They have been linked heavily with Harry Maguire and most recently Yerry Mina. Meanwhile, Toby Alderweireld and Raphael Varane were both not interested in transfers.
On the outgoing list is Marcos Rojo. The Argentine is on Wolverhampton’s radar. The newcomers are keen on signing the centre back who Mourinho is looking to sell for clearing blocks to make room for a new defender.
