Unai Emery on Liverpool: Arsenal will meet Liverpool at Anfield as they aim to end Liverpool’s unbeaten run in the league.

Arsenal are currently 5th in the league table. The side is 13 points behind league-leaders Liverpool.

The sides will clash for the second time in the league this season. In their first meeting, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Gunners have been shaky since their win against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month. Arsenal have lost two games and drew their Boxing Day fixture against Brighton. The side has travelled without Mesut Ozil, and Sky Sports’ David Ornstein has reported that the midfielder was ruled out of the game due to a back injury.

As Arsenal takes on Liverpool in a high-profile clash at the Anfield, Unai Emery issued a worrying statement for Arsenal fans in the pre-match press conference.

Unai Emery on Liverpool:

The Gunners’ boss stated that there is a possibility of Liverpool ending the season unbeaten, and thus equalling Arsenal’s invincible season.

“At the moment they are doing it and they can do it,” Emery replied when asked if Jurgen Klopp’s side could finish the season unbeaten.

“They can do that because they are doing it at the moment. We played against Liverpool three years ago with Sevilla in the final of the Europa League and I look at this progress and they are a very good example.”

Arsenal are the only side to have gone through the entire league season unbeaten in the history of the tournament. Arsene Wenger’s side completed the historic feat in 2003/04.

Emery stated that Arsenal need to work harder to stop Liverpool from securing three points when they meet them on Saturday night.

“This progress is also one example for us, now, in our moment. But we need to be very, very demanding of ourselves to do this step quickly in our way.

“But we need also time and sometimes the patience is very important for us.”

Arsenal travel to Anfield after dropping two points at Brighton, where Unai Emery was heavily criticised for his substitutions. The manager took Ozil off at halftime, and later stated that the decision was solely based on tactics.
