Antonio Conte to Real Madrid

Antonio Conte to Real Madrid: The former Chelsea manager has been contacted by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Real Madrid have struggled ever since the beginning of the new season. The Los Blancos faced the departure of Zinedine Zidane and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo within a month, and their performance in the transfer market has been underwhelming.

Julen Lopetegui joined the Spanish club as the new manager and the football hasn’t looked convincing ever since. Real Madrid are currently 4th in La Liga with only 14 points from 8 matches. Moreover, the defending European champions are goalless in their last four games across all competitions.

However, they are marginally benefitted by the slump in form of arch-rivals FC Barcelona, who are only one point ahead at 2nd position in the league.

Florentino Perez is now eyeing another managerial change this season, and it is being reported that he has contacted Antonio Conte.

The Italian manager has most recently been the manager of Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title in his very first season. His second season was comparatively underwhelming, as Chelsea missed on a Champions League spot. Conte, however, finished the season with a silverware as he led the team to FA Cup victory.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, Florentino Perez has contacted Antonio Conte to know if he would be available to succeed Lopetegui.

According to the report, Lopetegui’s future at Real Madrid would depend on the results of the next three matches, which include a Champions League game against Viktoria Plzen, and the El Clasico.

The report also suggests that the Spanish manager has lost the dressing room.

What next?

Real Madrid will face Levante as they return to La Liga action this week. Lopetegui will aim to bring their season back on track with a win. The Spanish club is also facing an injury crisis as their two fullbacks, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal are still out with injury.
