How Rohit Sharma and Ritika Sajdeh Met During a Professional Shoot in 2008

A mere glance at the Instagram page of Ritika Sajdeh, and one would find quite a many adorable pictures of her alongside her husband-cum-Indian team captain Rohit Sharma, and their daughter Samaira.

While the power couple dated for as many as six years before getting married in December 2015, Rohit not really had a great first impression of Ritika, courtesy of former team India allrounder Yuvraj Singh.

During an interaction with Gaurav Kapur in his chat show ‘Breakfast with Champions‘ five years ago, Rohit had revealed a rather funny story (at hindsight) involving Yuvraj when the two had met during a professional shoot in 2008.

Despite having never met her before, Yuvraj pointed towards Ritika, a sports event manager, and threatened Rohit to better stay away from her as she happens to be his sister. A rather baffled Rohit quickly replied him back by stating that he has only arrived there to meet him and had nothing to do with her (Ritika).

Rohit later reveled that he did not have a good first impression of Ritika, despite having not even interacted with her once.

Last year, during the auspicious Hindu festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan’, an old picture of Ritika tying Yuvraj the customary ‘Rakhi‘ (a sacred thread symbolizing the love between siblings) had gone viral across social media handles, with people referring to Ritika as Yuvraj’s sister.

While the two share a very special bond and have known each other for quite some years now, they are not real-life or biological siblings. Yuvraj merely considers Ritika as her younger sister as a mark of respect and courtesy.

Rohit and Ritika finally meet

It was on that very day that Rohit and Ritika finally met each other after the former had to redo the shoot again, due to some technical issues with his microphone.

Rohit exclaimed that she was all sweet and kind to him during their first interaction, and even told him to let her know in case he needed any help.

Later the two became really close friends, and Ritika even started personally managing Rohit’s brand endorsement events and other shoots as well.
