Why is Prithvi Shaw Not Playing Today's IPL 2023 Match Between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in Guwahati?

During the 11th match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in Guwahati, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has won the toss and chose to bowl.

“Don’t know what’s gonna happen. Hopefully, we will start well,” Warner told host broadcaster Star Sports Network at the toss. Considering how the sun sets early in this part of the country, it will be interesting to see if Warner’s decision will bring them any advantage or not in the second innings.

Coming on the back of a narrow 5-run loss against Punjab Kings at the same venue on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson predicted another high-scoring encounter at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Unlike the last match, RR will be setting a target on Saturday.

“I think it looks a good wicket to bat on. Should be a high-scoring game. Let’s see how we turn up,” Samson told Star Sports Network at the toss.

With them losing their first two matches, DC have made a total of three changes to their Playing XI. Batters Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell and fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed have come into the Playing XI in place of batter Prithvi Shaw and all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Aman Hakim Khan.

Shaw, who scored 12 (9) and 7 (5) before getting out by fast bowlers Mark Wood and Mohammed Shami against Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans respectively, has been surprisingly left out of the starting XI. In spite of the 23-year old player’s low returns across a couple of outings thus far, one believes he will bat as an Impact Player in the second innings.

As far as Royals are concerned, batter Dhruv Jurel and pacer Sandeep Sharma replacing batter Devdutt Padikkal and pacer KM Asif respectively are their two changes for their third match of the season.
