India’s death overs specialist Jasprit Bumrah is all set to appear in whites for the very first time during the team’s Test setup against South Africa starting from January 5 onwards.

Bumrah will be looking forward to bowling well in unfamiliar conditions.

Jasprit Bumrah is playing through a military coup in India whose subtle variations of good line and length is well noted.

Many knew Bumrah’s move was coming already as he has gone to greener pastures in the Indian colours of ODIs and T20Is.

BCCI Chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad opened up why Jasprit Bumrah was selected for Tests. Scrutinizing Bumrah’s performances in the last 18 months in ODIs and in T20Is, he was quite instrumental in bowling.

To highlight that, he is good at bowling pin-point yorkers and loves to put pressure on the batsmen.

MSK Prasad felt that Jasprit Bumrah is someone who adds a solid dimension to the bowling attack and it is quite possible that he would adapt to the nature of the wickets.

With the wickets in South Africa expected to be ‘greenish’ it would be of great assistance to the seamers. It is no secret that Virat Kohli would rely on Bumrah in crunch situations.

“With regard to Bumrah, if we look at his performance in the last 18 months, he has been sensational. He has been phenomenal in both ODIs and T20s. Considering his Ranji Trophy performances last year, where he bowled brilliantly the whole season.

It was a unanimous choice and we had no doubts about that. He definitely adds variety to the side and the nature of the wickets there will definitely suit him,” said Mr Prasad.
