Fernando Alonso Takes Huge Dig at Former Alpine Teammate Esteban Ocon: ‘Free Practice is Their Moment’
Fernando Alonso took a brutal swipe at his former team, Alpine, and his former teammate Esteban Ocon after he was blocked during the second practice session of the Miami Grand Prix. The Spaniard was left fuming as he could not understand why the Frenchman would fight him during a practice session.
Hence, to release his frustration, he told his race engineer, Chris Conin, “The Alpines are fighting the free practice”! On being told ‘that’s a joke,’ the Spaniard hilariously took a dig at his former team and teammate by adding, “The free practice is their moment, so it is good”.
Alonso was perhaps referring to the superior pace that Aston Martin have over the Alpines. This is because, after the first four races, Aston Martin is currently second in the Constructors’ Championship with 87 points, while Alpine is all the way down in sixth with just eight points.

Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon have contrasting starts to the 2023 season
Fernando Alonso has kickstarted his 2023 season with three consecutive podium finishes followed by a fourth-place finish last weekend in Baku. Consequently of these results, he is currently third in the championship, with just the two Red Bulls ahead of him.
As for Esteban Ocon and Alpine, the 2023 season so far has been nothing short of a disaster. The Frenchman has just scored four points after the first four races and is currently 13th in the championship. In stark contrast, Ocon had already scored 20 points at this stage of the season last year.
Considering how the season has panned out so far, Alonso will hope that he can continue his outstanding form. On the other hand, Ocon will look to reset and hope that Alpine can give him a better package.
