“Shaq, Aren’t You Tired of Seeing Yourself on TV?”: Kenny Smith Thanks Shaquille O’Neal For His ‘Hours’ of Business Advice
For 12 years, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith have been working together in TNT. They are two of the world’s premier basketball analysts on Inside The NBA. But, basketball isn’t the only thing they talk about. In fact, The Jet received some of the best business advice he ever had from Big Diesel.
Shaq went down in league history as one of the greatest centers of all time. He was a dominant force. But, breaking backboards wasn’t going to last long. So, he picked up a ton of other hobbies. His work as an analyst aside, Shaq is also a DJ and has great business acumen. And, with a net worth of $400 million, it’s safe to say business has been good for him.
As a result, despite questioning his desire to still be on TV, Kenny Smith is grateful for the opportunity to work on Inside the NBA with Shaq, and talk shop.
Kenny Smith is grateful for the hours of business advice he received from Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal has been a great asset for Inside the NBA. Not only is he a knowledgeable basketball expert, but he also has a hilarious personality. But, he offers so much more than just that.
Over the years, Shaq has become quite a businessman. With several companies, endorsements, and commercials to his name, The Big Aristotle has raked in a lot of dollars. And, he has no plans of stopping.
It’s almost to the point where you have to wonder if he’s tired of seeing himself on TV. And, his fellow Inside the NBA co-star Kenny Smith has done just that. Appearing on the show Know Mercy with Stephen A. Smith, The Jet talked about what it is like working with Shaq. In particular, the hours of business advice he has received from the Hall of Famer.
“I’m like, “Shaq you don’t get tired of seeing yourself on TV bro?”. Like all these commercials, and he’s like, “Kenny, we are in a window that you have only eight years. So you have to maximize as a business.” So now he’s teaching me about business. Well, I’m thinking I’m going to talk dunks with this dude, and he’s telling me how to be a better businessman for an hour.”

To be fair, Shaq is one of those guys you would love to have conversations with about business. Especially if the conversation starts after you ask him about his commercials. Considering all the weird ones he has out there.
One of Shaq’s weirdest commercials had him asking “Why be plain when you can be crunchy?”
Shaquille O’Neal has had a number of crazy endorsements and commercials over the years. But, perhaps one of his more hilarious and weirder ones came in 2002. Decked out in the finest suits and standing next to the coolest cars, the big man can be seen holding a Nestle Crunch Bar.
While it certainly is marketing genius on Nestle’s behalf, the tagline is a bit weird. Why be plain when you can be crunchy?
Shaq-a-Claus, Shaq Fu, Shaq Soda, there are plenty of weird Shaq commercials that come to mind when you think about it. But, one will always have to wonder. Why be plain when you can be crunchy?
