“He’s Much More Wiggins Than Kobe Or Michael Jordan”: Colin Cowherd Slams Jayson Tatum’s Killer Instinct With Interesting Comparison
Ever since Jayson Tatum set foot on the NBA hardwood, the Boston Celtics leader has been heavily compared to Kobe Bryant. While Tatum has been selected to 4 All-Star teams and 3 All-NBA teams, Colin Cowherd still doesn’t believe that the former Duke Blue Devil has a superstar mentality. In fact, the 59-year-old analyst believes that JT possesses more of an Andrew Wiggins type of personality rather than Kobe or Michael Jordan.
The Celtics’ forward had a terrific 2022-2023 regular season. However, after finishing 4th in the MVP voting, the 6-foot-8-inch star has witnessed a dip in his production during these playoffs.
Averaging 26.3 points and 5.2 assists, Tatum has failed to close out a few games during the postseason. Using this Reason as a lack of aggressiveness, Cowherd recently stated that Jayson was “Much more Wiggins than Kobe or MJ”.
“Jayson Tatum doesn’t grab the game late”: Colin Cowherd makes a bizarre statement
On the latest episode of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”, the analyst further explained his idea for the Massachusetts-based franchise to trade away Jaylen Brown. According to Colin, the Cs would benefit from the acquisition of Wiggins & Poole in exchange for Brown.
He then went on to criticize JT for not being aggressive. Finally, putting the reigning Eastern Conference Finals MVP in the same stratosphere as the Maple Jordan, Cowherd explained:
“You and I know that Jayson Tatum’s personality has been formed. He is much more Wiggins than Kobe or MJ. He’s not hyper-aggressive. Kobe, MJ, LeBron, Bird, aggressive. Jayson Tatum is more Wiggins. Doesn’t grab the game late. That’s his personality.”
While he negated the Tatum-Kobe comparisons, in his very next statement, he lauded JB for having a personality of the likes of the Mamba and His Airness. Quite ironic, we must add.
“Jaylen Brown’s personality is more Kobe and MJ.”
“Yesterday, I floated a brilliant trade idea and the market responded.”

Agreed, Tatum doesn’t belong in the same group as the likes of Bryant, Jordan, James, and Bird, just as yet. However, comparing him to Andrew is outrageous. For a player who has seemingly elevated himself year after year, he deserves more props.
Tatum scores 16 points in the last period to lead Boston to a Game 6 win
Just a few hours after Colin attacked Tatum for his inability to finish games out, Jayson delivered a huge performance in the dying minutes of Game 6 of the Sixers-Celtics ECSF clash.
Scoring merely 3 points on 1/13 FG through the first 3 periods of the clash, “one of the best basketball players in the world” erupted for a huge 16-point 4th quarter.
Trailing Joel Embiid and Co. 83-81, the 25-year-old went on an 8-0 run to help Joe Mazzulla’s boys clinch a 95-86 win.
