"Dhundho Dhundho re Saajna...": When Sunil Gavaskar Sang a Song to Brutally Troll Rohit Sharma's Batting Against Dale Steyn

The legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar had once hilariously pulled Rohit Sharma‘s leg after the latter had faced a vintage fast bowling spell from the Proteas legendary pacer Dale Steyn during the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League.

It was a league stage between Mumbai Indians and the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. During the post-match show for the host broadcaster, Gavaskar began with his analysis of Steyn’s terrific spell of fast bowling with the new ball.

However, an over-excited ‘Little Master’ suddenly began singing a popular Hindi song the moment producer played the footage of Steyn beating Sharma all ends up during the first over of the innings.

After cleaning MI opening batter Richard Levi up, Steyn’s stellar display of outswing bowling saw the incoming batter Rohit Sharma poking at the ball the next four deliveries of the over. However, all of them went past Sharma’s bat, beating the outside edge by a whisker each time.

Reacting to the same, Gavaskar began singing legendary Lata Mangeshkar’s song titled ‘Dhundho Dhundho Re Saajna‘ in order to brutally troll Sharma. He was perhaps trying to indicate (via the song) that Sharma couldn’t find the ball anywhere near his bat, and was dancing to the tunes of Steyn since the moment he had arrived at the crease.

Sitting alongside him were former Indian batter Navjot Singh Sidhu and renowned anchor Gaurav Kapur, both of whom couldn’t control their laughter after Gavaskar sang the song not once, but twice.

Having beaten Rohit’s outside edge on four consecutive deliveries during the first over, Steyn returned to bowl the third over of the MI chase as well.

After the ball went past the outside edge of Rohit’s bat for the fifth consecutive time, the present MI skipper became extra-cautious while facing Steyn for the remaining part of the over.

Instead of poking his bat each time, he decided to leave alone the next three balls of the over. Finally, on the last delivery of his new ball spell, Rohit went for a front-foot defense and took a single to end his misery.
