Performing at the highest level, Jimmy Butler has been dominating the Boston Celtics and their head coach Joe Mazzulla all series long. He has even been taunting them, directly on the court and on his Instagram. Even his recent post predicting the Heat’s win in 5 games has gone viral. While Butler continues his takeover of Boston, Bally Sports Sun’s Jeremy Tache’s discovery has left social media in a frenzy. It turns out that Butler defeated Joe Mazzulla during his final college game, thus ending his college career. In 2011, Marquette, led by Jimmy Butler defeated Mazzulla’s West Virginia.

The Heat have exceeded any and all expectations. A #8-seeded team making their way to the conference finals and being merely 1 win away from clinching a spot in the NBA Finals is as baffling as it gets. Helping Marquette defeat West Virginia University, Joe’s final college game came to a sobering end thanks to Jimmy.

Joe Mazzulla lost his final college game to Jimmy Butler

During the 2011 Big East Tournament, Marquette met WVU in their second-round clash. Despite leading by 7 points at the half, the Mountaineers ended up suffering a 61-67 loss. While Mazzulla recorded 8 points and 5 assists, Butler dropped 9 crucial points and got the win.

As the story of Mazzulla’s final college game loss went viral on social media, NBA Twitter erupted with various reactions.

While Butler wasn’t the go-to guy for Marquette back in his college days, he certainly has been the best player on the Heat.

Exposing the Massachusetts-based defense all series long, the two-way star has been recording a staggering 26/7/6. That’s not all, apart from talking his talk during the game, the 33-year-old has been actively mocking Jayson Tatum and co. on social media.

Can Butler be the reason for ending Mazzulla’s coaching stint with the Celtics?

After Ime Udoka was suspended by the franchise, Joe stepped in. He led the Celtics to become one of the top-seeded teams in the league.

In only Joe’s first year as a head coach, the Cs went on to clinch an impressive 57-25 record.

However, the Celtics’ performance in the postseason has been concerning. The 34-year-old coach is on the verge of being swept from the Eastern Conference Finals after surviving the Sixers’ storm.

For Joe, his job could be in jeopardy considering that no Celtics team has ever been down 0-3 in the ECF, let alone be swept by an 8th-seeded team.
