F1 Fans Enraged as Official F1 Account Adds to the Rumors of Nyck de Vries Losing His Seat

Formula 1 debutant Nyck de Vries has not had the best of starts to the 2023 Formula 1 season. The rookie has not been able to score a single point yet. It has been discussed widely that the Dutchman might lose his seat soon. However, Formula 1 fans were left enraged when the official Formula 1 account added to the rumors of De Vries losing his seat.

Scuderia Alpha Tauri recruited Nyck De Vries at the beginning of the 2023 season. He was supposed to be a replacement for the outgoing Pierre Gasly. The debutant has however failed to replicate the level of performance that Pierre Gasly had.

Vries currently has 0 points besides his name, and his best finish in the first five races was a P14. Things have worsened for the Dutchman because his teammate Yuki Tsunoda has started to fight for the points and has managed two top-10 finishes. This resulted in many discussions about whether Alpha Tauri will keep De Vries as their driver for the time ahead.

Formula 1 seemed to fuel rumors about De Vries

Formula 1 joined in discussion with their official account as they posted an in-depth article about the situation that Nyck De Vries currently finds himself in. However, the article did not have an objective analysis of the situation. Additionally, Formula 1 Twitter attempted to fuel the rumors about De Vries losing his seat by putting the caption ‘Is Nyck De Vries really in danger of losing his seat?’. Written by Lawrence Baretto, the opinion piece has left fans enraged.

Twitter user Lor pointed out that Nyck De Vries has been subject to a lot of public humiliation. The fact that the official Formula 1 account is also joining in is unprecedented.

The user confirmed that they are not a fan of De Vries. They also mentioned that it is quite ironic that Formula 1 talks about mental health and a person being unemployed right after starting his new job.

Nyck De Vries has had a horrid 2023 season.

The rumors came into being in the first place after a series of disappointing performances by Nyck De Vries. Things went from bad to worse for him at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He had crashed out in Qualifying, tangled with his teammate Tsunoda during the sprint race, and DNFed during the main race.

The Red Bull Junior Driver Programme has many young talents waiting on the sidelines for an opportunity to get into Formula. Liam Lawson seems to be the current front-runner amongst them. He is the most senior among the junior drivers and is having a brilliant run in the Super Formula series in Japan. He is currently leading the championship with two wins to his name.
