Starstruck Daniel Ricciardo Spills All the Feelings Behind Viral Red Carpet Moment With American Sweetheart Anne Hathaway

Daniel Ricciardo has recently opened up on the “coolest person” he encountered at his recent visit to Met Gala this year. Talking about this in a talk show, Ricciardo revealed that the person was none other than Hollywood starlet Anne Hathaway.

The Red Bull star was in the United States with his team Red Bull, for the 2023 Miami Grand Prix. There, before the race started, he decided to pay a visit to the iconic Met Gala in New York, which had some of the world’s biggest celebrities in attendance.

This year’s theme at the Gala was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” This was set to pay homage to famous German designer Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019.

Ricciardo was wearing a Thom Browne three-piece suit with embellishments. The eight-time GP winner left his fans in awe, but also caught the eye of Anne Hathaway, who later revealed that “she’s a huge fan.”

Just ahead of this year’s race in Miami, the Aussie appeared as a guest at Pardon My Take talk show, just like Christian Horner, Max Verstappen, and Sergio Perez. There, he was asked about the coolest person he met at the Gala.

Speaking about, Ricciardo started describing the “cool” and “sweet” person he met. He said that he was waiting for the photo shoot at the Gala, and that was when he noticed Hathaway standing on the red carpet at the same time as him.

“I was like I guess I go up next [for the photo shoot]. So she [Hathaway] was there and then she kind of looked and she’s like oh Daniel Ricciardo. And I was like oh,” Ricciardo revealed with a grin.

Following this, the 33-year-old went on to say that how he went there anonymously and then getting recognized by one of the world’s top actresses was very “unexpected” for him.

Hathaway a big fan of Ricciardo

As the duo met each other, Ricciardo came to know that Hathaway is a big-time F1 fan. According to a video uploaded by a Twitter user named ahmed bakobah, Hathaway seemed excited to meet Ricciardo.

As she came across the honey badger, the 40-year-old actress shook hands and immediately uttered, “Wow, I’m a huge fan of F1.” Following this, the duo exchanged smiles and had a bit of chat.

Admittedly, the popularity of F1 and its drivers around the world, especially in the United States, has increased drastically over the last few years. Anne Hathaway being a fan of Daniel Ricciardo could very well be a result of that.
