Heartbroken Charles Leclerc Reveals He "Would Struggle to Think It Can Get Worse" As Ferrari's Upgrades Fail to Deliver in Spain

Charles Leclerc was left devastated after a disastrous performance at the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. The Monegasque only managed to qualify 19th on the grid before he finished eleventh in the main race. Following the conclusion of the race, a heartbroken Leclerc revealed how he believes it could not get any worse for the team than it already is.

Similarly, Carlos Sainz in the other Ferrari did not have a much better race either. After qualifying an outstanding second on Saturday, the Spaniard only managed to finish fifth. He finished behind both Mercedes drivers and the Red Bull of Sergio Perez. It is pertinent to note that Ferrari had such a disappointing race despite getting upgrades this weekend.

“The target is to only get better“: Leclerc hopeful of better races ahead

Since Charles Leclerc struggled massively in the Ferrari this weekend, the obvious question in the mind of most was if things can actually get worse than they already are for the Prancing Horse. When asked this question, the Monegasque replied, “I hope not. To be honest, looking at our weekend, I would struggle to believe that it can get worse than that. The target is to only get better“.

After such a miserable weekend, it is not just Leclerc who is devastated but also his fans. On hearing the 25-year-old, some fans said that their “heart can’t take this“.

On similar lines, some other fans such as Annie pointed out that Leclerc looked “miserable” after a disastrous weekend.

And then here were several fans such as Laura who blamed Ferrari for Leclerc’s current condition.

Charles Leclerc remains seventh in the championship

Despite arguably having his worst ever weekend in Formula 1, Charles Leclerc remains in seventh in the championship. The Monegasque has currently scored 42 points after the first seven races and is now just seven points ahead of eighth-placed Lance Stroll.

When it comes to the Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari continue to remain in fourth but fall further behind the top three. The Prancing Horse have currently scored 100 points and are 34 points behind third-placed Aston Martin, who were pipped by Mercedes this weekend.
