Dale Earnhardt Jr Reveals Why Hendrick Motorsports Legend Can “Get Your Head Spinning Fast” as NASCAR Shifts From Fox to NBC
Dale Earnhardt Jr recently shed light on the significance of thorough preparation ahead of race broadcasts, especially when sharing the stage with a certain legend from Hendrick Motorsports who has a knack for “getting your head spinning fast.” With the Ally 400 kick-starting this weekend, the broadcast of the races is set to change hands from FOX to NBC.
Hence, we’ll have the chance to listen to Junior and an ensemble of other prominent voices throughout the races.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Junior tackled a fan’s question about his distinct approach toward broadcast preparation. He revealed that his strategy involves an extensive amount of homework before stepping into the commentary booth.
Junior reveals how he prepares for a broadcast with Hendrick Motorsports legend
The NBC Broadcast team is home to a powerful roster of experts. Undeniably, one of the most seasoned among them is Hendrick Motorsports legend, Steve Letarte. Therefore, anyone who plans to join him in the booth would need to equip themselves with comprehensive knowledge to keep up with Letarte’s insightful commentary.
The same applies to Junior, who divulged his unique preparation methods for these broadcasts.
Junior stated, “We have a group of statisticians, racing insights that email us all types of information. We should never complain about not having some stat or some information because it’s all there. And if you dig in, I will print it all out and start looking through all of this information…”
“I throw away the sheets that I don’t like, and I highlight the stuff that I do, like, I might even do a one-page or two-page note of all of the really, really good stats that I love. Try to work those into my shows. But also watch the last race. Even the full race, or some of the abbreviated races on YouTube, to understand how the strategy played out, what to be ready for. Because man, if you don’t, if you don’t know there’s a potential from the strategy in a race and you’re standing there and it starts happening, and Steve (Letarte) starts talking. It can get your head spinning fast.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is excited to get back into the booth with NBC
