A cop got his revenge in the form of veteran England pacer Stuart Broad dismissing Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne (0) for a golden duck on the second day of the first Ashes 2023 Test match in Birmingham today. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the 11th over, Labuschagne was seen asking a security official to get away from the sight screen.

While the batter was well within his right to do the same, the person at the receiving end was smiling from ear to ear after the former got out on the first ball that he faced in the series.

Facing a full delivery outside the off-stump, a nervy Labuschagne wanting to poke at it ended up paying a hefty price. Readers must note that most batters aim at feeling the ball right at the beginning of their innings. Labuschagne was, in no way, wanting to do anything novel but opting to take a risk against a brilliant outswinging delivery from Broad led to his dismissal.

In addition to Broad, credit must also be given to English wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow for affecting a stunning one-handed catch towards his right.

With Broad once again sending Australia opening batter David Warner (9) back to the pavilion, the last thing which the visitors wanted was losing Labuschagne without contributing in the same over.

While the official Twitter handle of England Cricket had uploaded both Warner and Labuschagne’s dismissal right away, they uploaded the latter’s dismissal again after a few hours. Asking fans to follow them on TikTok, it was quite a fitting video considering the presence of amusing elements in it in the presence of background music.
