Amidst $10,000,000+ Purse Talks, Conor McGregor Is ‘Excited’ About Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury
Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury is surely one of the biggest MMA-Boxing crossovers in combat sports history. Since its announcement, the fight has already generated a lot of hype among fans. Interestingly, notable MMA figure Conor McGregor is also excited about the event. Having done one such crossover in the past against Floyd Mayweather, McGregor talked well about the Fury vs. Ngannou.
The highly anticipated boxing showdown will take place on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and ‘The Notorious’ is looking forward to it. Not only that, but he also raised Ngannou’s chances against Fury.
Conor McGregor shares thoughts on Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury
Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has been waiting for this crossover for a long time. He also quit the UFC for the same reason, since he had no flexibility to box outside of the company.
Despite the fact that many people predicted his downfall following his UFC exit, Ngannou is one step closer to his goal. ‘The Predator’ is apparently about to collect his career’s largest salary, which is believed to be more than $10 million.
While sharing his thoughts on the crossover in an interview with Adam Glyn, Conor McGregor predicted a reciprocal outcome. The former two-division champion said:
“I’m interested. Let’s see how it goes. I’ve not heard much about it but I’m happy for Ngannou, fair play to him. What weight is Tyson? Is he in shape? Anything can happen in there, so I wish them both well and I’m excited to see it.”
Tyson Fury has a stunning undefeated boxing resume. Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou is a hard-hitting MMA fighter who has delivered horrific knockouts throughout his career in the UFC.
Thus, what McGregor said is quite agreeable, anything can happen inside the cage. However, UFC legend Chael Sonnen doesn’t believe the same. He thinks this fight is a big mismatch.
Chael Sonnen chastises Fury vs. Ngannou
While many are enthusiastic about the heavyweight crossover, Chael Sonnen, a former UFC title challenger, is not. The former UFC fighter turned analyst dubbed it the ‘most ridiculous sporting competition.’
Sonnen elaborated on his comments by citing Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and others competing against Tom Brady and the Patriots under boxing rules.
Nonetheless, for some reason, the UFC veteran feels Ngannou has a better chance against the British boxer. Overall, the addition of such well-known individuals to this crossover makes it even more intriguing to look forward to.
