Dan Ticktum hints that Prema Powerteam are using ‘interesting tactics’

Mick Schumacher is on fire in F3, having won 5 races in a row, 3 of which came at Nurburgring earlier this month, and the other two at the Red Bull ring this weekend. In the 3rd race at the Red Bull ring, Schumacher finished in 2nd place.

He is now currently 49 points ahead of Dan Ticktum, who at the start of the season was kind of the favourite for the F3 title.

Schumacher now needs just one point in order to win the title, a development that hasn’t quite gone down well with Ticktum, as suggested by his Instagram post.

“Not ideal is the best way I can describe the weekend here in Austria. I don’t like pointing fingers at anyone but to be honest, this weekend the pace in the car was not there. Set up mainly, as in the last race when we got the car better, we were pretty quick climbing from 7th to 4th.” he said.

“However compared to the top 2 no one on this grid had a chance. Even their other team mates who are good drivers were nowhere compared to them.

“Interesting is how I would describe their pace and I am confident many people in the f3 paddock will agree. I did the best possible as I always endeavour to do!

“Thank you to the team as always for their hard work. It’s not over until it’s over and I’ll make sure I arrive at the last round in the best shape I can.” he added.

Ticktum’s comments suggest that Schumacher and his team are maybe indulging in some unfair practices to extract ‘extra pace’ out of the car, as according to Ticktum that is the only way to explain how Prema Powerteam have been racing how they have been.

It is the FIA’s job to look into the techincal legality of what is going on with all the teams and they haven’t come up with any issues with Prema Powerteam.

It seems like Ticktum is a little frustrated with how the second half of the season has transpired.

Schumacher needs 26 points from the next 3 races to clinch the title. Is there any way Ticktum can stop him?
