Jos Verstappen Spills Water Over Sergio Perez’s Boost in Confidence as Son Max Aims 11th Straight Win in Singapore

Sergio Perez recently claimed that he feels confident in the RB-19 now, and after seeing how the Mexican driver came back to form, one might believe his words. He was closer to Max Verstappen in terms of race pace at Monza, and all he can think of is to break his teammate’s winning streak now. However, Jos Verstappen had other ideas in mind as he played the spoilsport to Perez’s hope, as per Ziggo Sport Racing.

The Mexican driver returned to form after a drastic slump in the middle of the season. Following the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix, the 34-year-old barely made it to the podium as he often went out of the qualification in Q1. However, Perez made his comeback with back-to-back podiums at Zandvoort and Monza.

Nevertheless, with the next race all set to take place in Singapore, the former Racing Point driver can make use of this opportunity to boost his confidence against his ever-dominant teammate further. However, Verstappen Sr., with his recent comments, spilled water over Perez’s confidence.

According to GP Fans, Robert Doornbos and Robert Kamphues discussed in Ziggo Sport’s Crashen in de Keuken program that Perez has a good chance in the upcoming race at the Marina Bay Circuit.

Doornbos said, “Perez gets an eight. [GP Victory] I think Perez is good.” Following this, Kamphues stated, “Write down in pencil that he took Max in Singapore.” [In 2022]. However, after this, the former F1 driver came out with his cheeky response on Twitter.

Verstappen Sr. wrote, “You still don’t understand.” Admittedly, even if this was short and sweet, this was definitely a hint to spoil the confidence that the Mexican has. Nevertheless, Perez, who is 145 points behind Max Verstappen in the driver championship, is extraordinarily good on street circuits.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez might find immense opposition in Singapore

Even before the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix went underway, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez had already admitted that they might not be the firm favorites at Marina Bay Circuit. With that said, there are multiple teams that can threaten the Austrian team with a shocking win.

Ferrari made significant progress in the last few races, and Monza was one bright example of it. Furthermore, they are very strong in street circuits. Moreover, teams like Mercedes and Aston Martin might also surprise the grid.
