WATCH: Kimi asks Hamilton in the cool down room if he had won the world title
Kimi Raikkonen sent all F1 fans down memory lane with his impressive drive in Austin today, fending off the ever so impressive Verstappen and the ‘desperate to wrap up the world title Hamilton’.
In the last 10 laps of the race, the trio were involved in a brilliant three way battle, with Hamilton trying to get past Verstappen and the Dutch making some moves on Raikkonen.
Raikkonen was keeping Verstappen at bay, and with Hamilton breathing down his neck, Verstappen was anyway more absorbed in keeping Hamilton in 3rd place, thereby helping Vettel take the title race to Mexico.
Hamilton had to settle for 3rd place, with Vettel managing 4th place, thanks to a late overtaking manoeuvre on Bottas.
Raikkonen was obviously ecstatic after the race win, coming up with a ‘fucking finally’ message on the team radio when congratulated about the win.
The action from the race continued into the driver’s cool down room too, where at first Raikkonen and Vettel were discussing about the final few laps.
When Hamilton came in, Kimi cheekily asked him if he had won the world title, to which Hamilton replied with a no.
Kimi then asked him how did that happen and Hamilton said ‘I don’t know.’.

Hamilton will of course have the chance to wrap up the title in Mexico, but today belonged to Kimi Raikkonen, who drove out of his skin to claim his first race win in 113 race starts and also provided the entire F1 fraternity with a trip down memory lane.
It was a romantic moment for Kimi and all his fans, one that we all would cherish for a long time come
