Lewis Hamilton with a super emotional message after winning 5th World title
Lewis Hamilton has been the best driver this season, not making any mistakes all through and driving out of his skin to win his 5th world title.
Hamilton needed a 7th place finish in order to secure the title in Mexico and managed P5 after a difficult outing, as Mercedes really struggled with the tyres in the high altitudes of Mexico.
Max Verstappen and Red Bull had been dominant all weekend and the Dutch driver won the Mexico GP for the second consecutive year, with Ricciardo having to retire during the dying stages of the race.
But Hamilton stole all the limelight away, winning the title and soaking in all of the applause from the crowd.
It was an ever emotional moment for Lewis, who celebrated the win with his team and thanked his family for the immense support they had provided him all through these years in formula 1.
“It’s a very strange feeling right now. Honestly, I am just so grateful. To my family back home, I love you. Thank you for all the support. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the hard work my dad did and my family. It’s a very humbling experience” Hamilton said in the post race interview.
