Guardiola-Sterling conversation: Guardiola gives forward ‘Pep-talk’ after the game
Guardiola-Sterling conversation: The Manchester City manager confronted Raheem Sterling after the win against United.
Manchester City cruised to a 3-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s side at Etihad Stadium last night. David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan were among the goalscorers for City, as they thumped United in the first Manchester derby of the season.
With this win, Guardiola’s side is a whopping 12 points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table. Anthony Martial scored the sole goal for United after Romelu Lukaku was fouled by Ederson inside the box.
City were in complete control throughout the game, and after the third goal in the later stages of the second half, Manchester United players looked visibly exhausted. Raheem Sterling, the Manchester City forward, went on to perform stepovers while being chased by Alexis Sanchez and Marouane Fellaini, which didn’t impress his manager.
After the full-time whistle, Pep Guardiola confronted the English forward, and according to Sky, told him to not do that.
Guardiola-Sterling confrontation:
Even after a convincing 3-1 victory over their neighbors, the Manchester City manager was not impressed with Raheem Sterling’s showboating at the end of the game. After the full-time whistle, Guardiola raced towards the pitch and approached Sterling, telling him to pass the ball instead of keeping it.

“Pass the ball, pass the ball. Don’t do that,” Guardiola seemed to have said Sterling, according to Sky Sports.
In the post-match interview, Guardiola was asked about the conversation with Sterling at the end of the game.

“He makes some movement with the legs, we can avoid it,” the manager said. “But he’s young, and he’s going to improve.”
Manchester City regained the top spot in the league after the win at Etihad Stadium last night. After the players return from the international break, Manchester City will take on West Ham on November 24.
