Cleveland Cavaliers trade Kyle Korver to Utah Jazz, players unhappy

Cleveland Cavaliers have traded 37 year old guard, Kyle Korver to the Utah Jazz in exchange of 27 year old guard, Alec Burks and two second round draft picks.

Korver has been one of the most sought after players in the trade window and now Utah have secured his services in order to bolster their roster with a good shooter.

Korver has played for Utah before, during the 2007-10 period and thus knows all about the franchise and the city.

Utah were in need of a good shooter and with Korver having a 43% shooting accuracy from 3 point range across his career.(he has played 16 seasons in the NBA).

He has appreciated the Cleveland fans a lot in his goodbye message, saying that the fans have been extremely supportive of him, even during tough times.

He fondly remembers all the relationships he has forged during his time here and wants the Cleveland fans to know that they are the best fans anyone can play for.

“I think just overall I’m really grateful for my time in Cleveland,” Korver said. “So many amazing opportunities. Incredible teammates. Relationships that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life. The fans have really embraced me and my family. I’ve never heard ‘thank you’ so many times from fans, even after harder moments.

Jazz, by swapping Alec Burks for Kyle Korver, get coveted shooting (46.3% 3PT), save $3.0M this season, and create a $4.0M trade exception. Korver’s $7.5M salary for 2019-20 is $3.4M guaranteed til 7/7, which, if stretched, still leaves flexibility to create up to $42M+ cap room.

“Cleveland fans are who you want to play for.” Korver said in in exclusive interview with The Athletic.

And while the trade might turn out to be a good one for the Cavs in the long run, reportedly(reported by Slam Magazine) a lot of Cavs players are unhappy with what has just transpired, as they have now run out of good 3 point shooters.

They feel that despite Korver’s limited game time and impact, he still had it in him to change a game on its head by his superior 3 point shooting, something that could have massively helped the Cavs to close out games.
