Dhoni on Srinivasan’s book launch: “Fortunate to have been spent time with him”
Dhoni on Srinivasan’s book launch: The former Indian and current CSK captain opened up on Srinivasan’s book launch in Chennai.
Former ICC (International Cricket Council) Chairman and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) President N. Srinivasan released his book named ‘Defying The Paradigm’ yesterday in Chennai.
In which was a star-studded event, it witnessed the presence of numerous former India cricketers and the current squad of Chennai Super Kings, an IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise owned by Srinivasan’s India Cements.
Among all of them was former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, someone whom the city loves to the core. Apparently, the first copy of Srinivasan’s book was handed over to Dhoni on the stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhoni recalled the first time he met Srinivasan. “I have written and deleted this speech time and again and finally decided to go with the flow. I think the first interaction with sir was during a Test match and he had just become the treasurer.
“He walked in with Kashi sir after the end of the day’s play or during a break and asked when we get payment. One player said if we are lucky after 4 months. He just asked Kashi sir as to why and that is where it ended. He loves to play golf just as much as he loves cricket,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times on the occasion of the book launch.
The 37-year old cricketer who has been recently recalled into India’s T20I team added that he has learnt a lot under Srinivasan during his nine-year long career at Chennai Super Kings.
“I got to learn a lot out of him as I have been a part of CSK for the longest times. I never knew I would be selected for CSK. It became a very perfect mix like rum and coke. Either you love him or hate him, but you cannot ignore him. Fortunate to have been able to spend a lot of time with him,” he said.
