Sanjay Manjrekar copies Virat Kohli’s batting: Former Indian batsman posted a video of trying to bat like the Indian captain.

With India captain Virat Kohli being rested for the rest of the New Zealand tour, it will be interesting to see as to who replaces him in the playing XI. Having gained an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, India have the cushion of experimenting with their line-up in the imminent matches.

Kohli, who has been on the road since the tour of Australia began in November, deserved a much needed break. Given the recent issues with his back, the team management wouldn’t have wanted him to do any major damage.

During the given period, Kohli has played three T20Is, four Test matches and six ODIs without any significant break in between them. In the combined 13 matches, Kohli scored 648 runs at an average of 46.28 and a strike rate of 59.28 including a couple of centuries and three half-centuries.

More than his contribution with the bat, Kohli put on display a groundbreaking performance as the captain of the side leading the team from the front. While rain halted India’s progress in the T20I series, the visitors ended up winning the Test and ODI series (bilateral) for the first time in Australia and the second time in New Zealand (only ODIs).

Former India batsman and current commentator and cricket expert Sanjay Manjrekar took to his Twitter account to post a video of him batting in the nets. “Never too late to try the Virat thing while batting,” the caption read on Manjrekar’s tweet.

Giving the impression of being hugely impressed with Kohli, Manjrekar attempted to emulate the 30-year old cricketer. On the one ball which he plays in the video, he pushes it on the off-side and immediately calls for a single.
