NBA trade rumors: Pelicans had made Lakers aware of their exact demand for Anthony Davis

The trade deadline day was one that was uneventful when it came down to the entire Anthony Davis to Lakers saga, as the Lakers and Pelicans apparently couldn’t agree to a deal.

Days before the trade deadline, Anthony Davis had let the Pelicans know that he was looking for a trade.

The Lakers were on red alert since then, as they had for long been planning to recruit Davis and help him join forces with LeBron.

However, talks broke down a day before deadline day, as the Pelicans were forcing the Lakers to give up on a little too much.

Reports had stated that the Pelicans wanted almost the entire Lakers’ young core and had demanded 4 first round picks.

The Lakers were ready to offer 2 first round picks during initial negotiations but then the Pelicans demanded a little more.

While, no confirmation was provided on what the exact asking ‘price’ was, Brad Turner has revealed that the Pelicans let the Lakers know that it would take 4 first round and 2 second round picks(along with the Lakers core) to land Anthony Davis.

Thus, Pelicans had demanded 6 picks from the Lakers, along with their young core, a deal that could have put Lakers’ future in jeopardy.

While Anthony Davis is a good  enough player to have on your roster, you can’t really trade half your team and give away a large portion of your draft picks for one single player.

Now, according to reports, Pelicans have made it clear that if AD stays healthy up until the summer, the 6 draft picks deal would be the minimum asking price for AD(along with the young core).

While Lakers might not have the resources to give into Pelicans’ demands, Celtics or the Knicks could actually manage the required resources in order to land Anthony Davis.
