Twitter goes berserk as Sergio Ramos receives a red card during 2-1 home loss to Girona
Here is how Twitter reacted when Sergio Ramos got sent off while Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Girona.
Real Madrid were closing in on Barcelona in the League table, but they have done no favours themselves by losing their tie 2-1 against Girona in the La Liga at Santiago Bernabeu.
It was the Los Blancos who kicked off the game in a supreme manner. They lead through their defensive midfielder who headed the ball from an excellent cross from Toni Kroos. The hosts had plenty of chances to put the game beyond the bed, mainly Karim Benzema, but their failure to capitalize has come back to haunt them.
Girona earned a penalty when Sergio Ramos blatantly handed the ball inside the penalty box and received a yellow card for that action. Their talisman Christian Stuani kept a cool head and converted the spot-kick to draw back the scoreline.
Ten minutes later, Thibaut Courtois saved an initial shot, but the rebound header from Portu was too quick for his reflexes. Girona led the game which forced Real Madrid to pile in long balls to find a solution.
When they were doing the same, Skipper Ramos tried a bicycle kick and took out a Girona player instead which gave no other option for the referee to dismiss Real Madrid’s number four by producing the second yellow for the night. He will now miss the game against Levante next weekend.
Twitter went berserk after Sergio Ramos received his third yellow in last two games.
