Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moves closer to become Manchester United permanent manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very close to becoming Manchester United’s permanent manager.
Manchester United were in shambles when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to take over the club in Mid-December. When the team morale was steep low after losing the game to their arch-rivals Liverpool, the Red Devils’ interim manager has done a fantastic job to sit fourth in the Premier League table currently.
Despite losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16, one cannot raise an eyebrow on Solskjaer who has brought back the attacking football which is producing goods of good results in the last two months. He remains the strong contender for the job at the moment.
Even though he has done a fabulous job, many ex-Manchester United players have voted for the currently Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino to take the hot seat on a permanent basis at Old Trafford. The Argentine, who moved to the London club in 2014 has done an extraordinary job to take them into Champions League every single season. However, Ryan Giggs has backed his former teammate to take up the permanent job.

On the other hand, Solskjaer has impressed with the results, including victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the process. According to the English publication Independent, the Red Devils vice-chairman along with other committee members had an intense chat for three hours about the prospect of appointing Solskjaer as the permanent manager at Old Trafford.
The report also added that Woodward is very happy with the football the Old Trafford faithful are witnessing under the Norwegian. With that particular setup, the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Paul Pogba have all excelled and taken their game to next level.

Numbers have started to pile over the last few weeks and it’s an indication to the high-intensity football they played under Solskjaer. It was the complete opposite under the former Jose Mourinho who did not produce good results and the players were sulking to take up the field under him because of his set up particularly.
Despite winning all these games, Solskjaer enters a tough period where they will face Chelsea in the FA Cup on Monday night followed by the game against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how they would respond after that poor show against PSG.
