Lewis Hamilton Stands Out In Wimbledon Winner Carlos Alcaraz’s Celebrations: “I Was Surprised”
Carlos Alcaraz secured a straight set victory against Novak Djokovic at the Wimbledon Championship final last Sunday. He won the championship for the second consecutive year and messages poured for him from every corner of the sporting world. From F1, however, it was Lewis Hamilton’s congratulatory message which caught Alcaraz’s eye the most.
Speaking to Spanish publication Marca, Alcaraz revealed that prominent stars like Rafael Nadal, Pau Gasol, and Neymar wished him after his victory. However, the Spaniard was surprised when he saw the 7x world champion write to him.
“He [Hamilton] had never written to me before and we had never had any interaction,” Alcaraz said.
To win here is special. To defend here is elite.

Hamilton being one of the world’s most popular athletes, Alcaraz’s shock seemed valid. But being a four-time Grand Slam winner himself, Alcaraz has gone on to make a huge name. Following his incredible successes and talents, he is drawing attention from everywhere, including Hamilton. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic with the scoreline being a thoroughly one-sided affair — 6-2, 6-2, 7-6.
The Mercedes driver too emerged victorious in F1 two weeks ago in front of his home fans. Therefore, heading into this week’s Hungarian GP, the Briton will be hoping for the same.
Lewis Hamilton hoping to win back-to-back
For the first time since 2021, Mercedes won back-to-back races in Austria and Silverstone this season. While Hamilton took the glory of standing on the top step in front of his home crowd at the British GP, George Russell won the race at the Red Bull Ring.
Having struggled with a below-par Mercedes car for two whole seasons, the consecutive race wins is offering him some respite. With just months left until the Stevenage-born driver moves to Ferrari, he would be hoping to win more with Mercedes now.

In Hungary this weekend, the Brackley-based team will be one of the favourites once again and Hamilton will be looking to go back-to-back. Perhaps, another Hamilton victory would earn him a congratulatory message from Alcaraz this time.
