WATCH: Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni run-out Glenn Maxwell in 3rd ODI
Jadeja and MS Dhoni run-out Glenn Maxwell: The Indian all-rounder and wicket-keeper batsman teamed up to affect a brilliant dismissal.
During the third ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of India at Ranchi, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined hands to dismiss Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 42nd over when Australia batsman Shaun Marsh hit India chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav for a single to cover. Jadeja, who was fielding at the same position, rushed towards the ball.
With him picking the ball cleanly and rocketing a throw towards the batsman’s end, Maxwell was always going to be in danger. To remove any sort of doubt, Dhoni flicked the ball on to the stumps in his quintessential casual manner. Replays further confirmed that the batsman was comfortably out.

Maxwell, who was promoted up the order at No. 3 today, ended up scoring 47 (31) with the help of three fours and three sixes. Had he continued to play in the way he was playing, he would have surely proved costly for the hosts.
With the Indian fielders going through a terrible day on the field, Jadeja and Dhoni dismissing Maxwell must have came as a respite for them. Other than the Indian fielders leaking several runs on the field, it was Shikhar Dhawan who dropped Usman Khawaja.
Earlier, India captain Virat Kohli had won the toss and chose to field. Not wanting to disturb their winning combination, India had announced an unchanged eleven. On the other hand, Australia replaced Nathan Coulter-Nile with Jhye Richardson.

How Twitter reacted:
The Jadeja-Dhoni partnership in the Maxwell run-out was an exhibition of the highest skill in fielding. Jadeja changing the end to throw to and Dhoni nonchalantly flapping the ball onto the stumps. Could cost Australia 15-20 runs

one thnk i wanna ask @vikrantgupta73 .if cricket is all abt 3 thngs (batting, Fielding, bowling)..Why cant #jadeja b selected only .for his excellent Fielding skills..He saves almost 20-30 runs (invisible though) ..A run out could change d match,(prvs match).#AskSportsTak https://t.co/lBqpn2ZiHM

#AskStar usually players are chosen by batting or bowling performances…! Can ravider jadeja be selected for his incredible fielding performance and also he can bowl and bat?
