The Chennai Super Kings have been in supreme form this season. Having lost just 2 matches, CSK are well on their way to confirming their playoffs berth soon. A loss against SRH would not have hurt them much as Dhoni keeps saying that the law of averages will surely catch up with any team or player. They would treat this as a new match and a new opportunity to do something special. If two points are the result, they would take it with both hands.

Top-order

Shane Watson has looked a shadow of his former self in this IPL. He has not been able to replicate the success he had at PSL this year. With just 142 runs, Watson might get only a couple of more games to come into form before CSK start considering Billings as a viable replacement.

Faf du Plessis, though, has been brilliant in the tournament. He has scored 173 runs in just 5 matches and will play a significant role at the top of the order.

Suresh Raina, all time leading run-scorer for CSK, has had an ordinary season so far scoring just 207 runs. For a man who has always excelled in the IPL< this season has surely been below par. He would need to get back in form very soon.

Middle-order

Kedar Jadhav would probably bat at No. 4 and he has looked good in patches this season. He has looked to attack the bowlers and score some quick runs. A good innings in this match will help CSK in a huge way.

MS Dhoni is expected to be back in the mix after being rested in the last match as a precaution. He is CSK’s leading run-scorer this season and has been in enviable form. Dhoni needs to continue guiding the entire CSK unit and enable them to be extremely efficient.

Ambati Rayudu has had an ordinary season. He might get a few more matches before CSK thinks of an alternative. Rayudu, after being sacked from the Indian World Cup team, needs to deliver if he wants to remain in the CSK team at least. Ravindra Jadeja and Mitch Santner would make up the CSK middle order which bats really deep.

Bowlers

CSK will continue to rely heavily on spin. Imran Tahir has been amazing with the ball and has already picked up 15 wickets. He needs to keep picking the wickets in the middle overs which derails the opposition. Jadeja and Santner will join Tahir to form a potent spin attack on the Chinnaswamy pitch which has some assistance for the men who turn the ball.

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur will handle the pace bowling responsibilities. They have been pretty good and Chahar especially has impressed in the powerplay as well as the death. He has picked as many as 11 wickets. Thakur, after a few ordinary matches, has started looking good finally.
