de Villiers hits gigantic six out of Chinnaswamy Stadium: RCB veteran batsman went all out against the Punjab bowlers in the slog overs.

During the 42nd match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab at Bengaluru, veteran Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman AB de Villiers put on display a splendid batting performance.

In what was his 33rd IPL half-century, de Villiers batted in a manner that he is fondly known for. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fourth over, the 35-year old remained undeterred with wickets frequently falling in front of him.

His patience eventually yielded fruits during his 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. It was this stand which aided Royal Challengers to score a formidable total of 202/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

The pinnacle of de Villiers and Stoinis’ partnership came in the last three overs as the duo scored as many as 64 runs against the clueless duo of Hardus Viljoen and Mohammed Shami.

On the penultimate delivery of the penultimate over, de Villiers dispatched a Shami full-toss not just over deep square leg but also outside the stadium. In what was a colossal hit, it wasn’t as easy to attempt off a full-toss as de Villiers made it look.

While de Villiers ended up scoring 82* (44) with the help of three fours and seven sixes, Stoinis scored 46* (34) with the help of a couple of fours and three sixes.
