Ravi Ashwin: County Cricket trolls Ashwin after him signing with Nottinghamshire
County Cricket trolls Ashwin after him signing with Nottinghamshire: English County has seen the funny side of Indian cricketer’s latest signing.
India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has signed with English county Nottinghamshire. Having represented Worcestershire in 2017, this will be Ashwin’s second county stint.
The 32-year old cricketer will play for Nottinghamshire in the second half of the season. The off-spinner will replace Australia fast bowler James Pattinson as the county’s overseas player.
Expected to play six out of Nottinghamshire’s last seven county matches, Ashwin will play his first match against Essex on June 30. Other than Ashwin, Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is also playing the ongoing County season.
“I’m really looking forward to joining up with Nottinghamshire, to playing cricket at an iconic venue like Trent Bridge and hopefully contributing to some County Championship victories. I enjoyed my previous stint in England with Worcestershire. It’s a good, competitive standard of cricket over there and I can’t wait to get started,” Ashwin said about his signing.
“We knew what we wanted to sign and that was a world-class bowler. Whether that was a fast or a slow bowler, we were prepared to look at all options. As it happens, we’ve signed a very good spinner, a very experienced spinner and one we hope can contribute with the bat as well.
“We’ve seen world-class slow bowlers have a huge match-winning effect in county cricket over many years. Ravi [Ashwin] certainly has that potential – and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming him to the squad and letting him loose on our opposition,” Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell was quoted as saying.
County Cricket trolls Ashwin
The official Twitter handle of County Championship welcomed Ashwin in a hilarious manner. Referring to Ashwin mankading Jos Buttler in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, the tweet warned County batsmen of the same.
FYI non-strikers. Notts have a new signing! pic.twitter.com/PfUnTOnAcr

How Twitter reacted:
Just a gentle reminder that he is fastest to 300 wickets and currently at 342. Has taken 2 5-fer in 4 county games.
Pretty sure striker should fear more than non-striker.
