Mohamed Salah: Liverpool star wants his old teammate to join him at Anfield
Mohamed Salah opens the door for Daniele De Rossi to join Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah has said that he would like to play with Daniele De Rossi once again in his career and opens the door for the Italian International to pair him up at Anfield. The midfielder decided to quit his boyhood club after a timespan of 19 years and has been linked with a move away from Roma. The 35-year-old made 616 appearances during this period, leading the Italian side to Copa Italia and Supercopa Italia in the stint.
Even though he looks likely to join a non-European club, Salah says he would love to have him at Anfield. The Egyptian spent two years at Stadio Olimpico with De Rossi before transferring to Liverpool in 2017 summer. Salah scored 34 times in 84 games for Roma, thereby making himself as a fan favourite.
Speaking ahead of the titanic Champions League final, Salah said: “He is a legend of the club and of Italian football, not just because he is a great friend of mine. I don’t know what to say, I saw the game and the affection of the fans who saluted him.
“He made many sacrifices for his team, I would like to thank him, he is one of the best of which I have played with. Good luck for the future. A future for him in the Premier League? It would be beautiful, but I don’t know if it’s possible. It would be pleasing for me to play with him again, he is an optimal player.”
The 26-year-old was involved in a tussle with Sergio Ramos which lead to a shoulder injury. He was eventually substituted and Liverpool were not able to prevail as they lost the game 3-1. Redeemed Salah has stated that the whole team need to work hard to come out as victors.
“I am very excited, last year we lost and for this we want to redeem ourselves. It will be a very difficult match, we played Tottenham in the Premier League and arrived in front of them. However, this doesn’t count. A final is a match on its own and we want to win it. Klopp? We haven’t spoken of the details yet, but we know what our manager is worth. Luck counts, but we will have to work hard.” added Salah.
