Barcelona crushed Espanyol 4-0 in the season’s first derby in the league. Lionel Messi shined as he scored a brace with two brilliant free-kicks, while Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez scored to complete an all-round show for Barcelona.
Messi opened the goalscoring early in the first half, while Ousmane Dembele soon doubled the lead in the 26th minute.
Luis Suarez scored the third goal as he ran with the ball towards the edge of the box, before cheekily nutmegging the goalkeeper to make it three before the halftime.
Barcelona, with this win, remain at the top of the table. The Catalan side is three points clear of second-placed Sevilla, who were held to another draw in the league by Valencia.

Ousmane Dembele found Luis Suarez making a forward run with an exquisite pass, and the Uruguayan striker ran with the ball.
As the defender increased the pressure, Suarez was forced into a tight angle, but took an attempt at the goal. He cheekily nutmegged Diego Lopez, who should’ve done better to save the goal.
The goal gave Barcelona a three-goal lead before halftime, and comfortably put the game to bed.
