Klay Thompson injury: Warriors stars limps off in Game 2 of NBA finals vs Toronto Raptors in a massive setback to GSW for the NBA finals
Klay Thompson was leading the scoring chart for the Warriors in Game 2 of the NBA Finals when he started limping and headed to the bench with an apparent ankle injury.
Golden State Warriors are often called lucky for going through the playoffs with opponents missing star players due to injuries. The list is long but its high profile. Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Jrue Holiday, Mike Conley, Kawhi (twice), Tony Parker, DeMarcus Cousins, CP3 and plenty more.
That’s not to say that the Warriors wouldn’t have won without those injuries, they probably would have as evidenced earlier in the 2nd round match up against the Rockets proving an injured CP3 was no excuse last year. This year though the narrative has changed with Warriors being ravaged by injuries in the playoffs.

First it was DeMarcus Cousins with his quad injury. Then Kevin Durant went down with his calf strain. There was the Curry dislocated finger in game 1. There have been minor injuries to Iguodala and Looney but the Warriors injuries are compounding now. Game 2 against the Raptors saw the injury headache of Steve Kerr pile up further. First Iguodala ran into a screen from Gasol that looked like he ran into a wall.
He was down for a few seconds clutching the back of his head, but a few minutes break and he was back. Next Looney went down hard and was ruled out of the rest of the game with chest contusion.
The biggest moment though came with Klay Thompson, who looked like he was searching for contact on a 3 point shot, and found it, landed awkwardly and tried to play through but it got worse. With a bit more than half of the last quarter to play Thompson had to be pulled out and limped his way to the locker room. The initial report is a left hamstring tightness that ruled Thompson out of the rest of Game 2. We will have more as the story develops.
