Rohit Sharma opens up on MS Dhoni’s glove controversy ahead of India vs Australia 2019 World Cup match
Rohit Sharma opens up on MS Dhoni’s glove controversy: The Indian vice-captain was vocal about controversy regarding MS Dhoni.
Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni supporting the army insignia on his wicket-keeping gloves has caused a furore back home. While some renowned personalities are divided on whether Dhoni should wear the same gloves or not, Dhoni’s plentiful fans don’t find anything derogatory in the same.
After CoA (Committee of Administrators) Chief Vinod Rai sought “flexibility” from the ICC (International Cricket Council), the governing body refused to do the same in their final verdict on Dhoni yesterday.

With India set to play Australia in their second match of the World Cup at The Oval tomorrow, Dhoni’s gloves are highly likely to become the centre of attraction. Given the ICC’s verdict, one doesn’t expect Dhoni to support the insignia on the gloves.

Speaking during the press conference on the eve of the match, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma opened up on the whole controversy. Also the opening batsman, Sharma didn’t give a precise answer on the same.
“I have no idea about it [controversy] at all. I am not the captain. I don’t know what is happening with that and have nothing to say about it. Let’s see what happens tomorrow,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

During India’s 228-run chase, Sharma had stitched an 85-run partnership for the third wicket alongside Lokesh Rahul (26). The latter might have failed to convert his start into a significant innings but Sharma labelled Rahul’s innings as a “helping hand”.
“He [Rahul] didn’t get a lot of runs in the last game but he looked good and helped me put on a big partnership. His 24 was as good as a 50. I have a lot of hope from him for the tournament,” Sharma added.
