Sarfaraz Ahmed takes a wasted review against David Warner during Australia vs Pakistan of the ongoing Cricket World Cup at Taunton
During the 17th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Australia and Pakistan at Taunton, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed took an absolute wasted review against Aussie opening batsman David Warner.
It all happened in the 25th over of the Australian innings. Amir, who took a 5-wicket haul at the end of the innings had bowled beautifully with the new ball and should have got the wicket of both the openers on more than a couple of occasions had his deliveries not gone past the outside edges.
However, when it came to decision making, we saw an absolute shocker use of the DRS as one could have ever witnessed. Talking about the delivery, it was the 5th ball of Amir’s 7th over. He had bowled a good length delivery outside the off-stump at 135 Ks. The ball had deflected off Warner’s right pad and went through to the skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed at one bounce. Sarfaraz was initially reluctant as he should have been. The impact of the delivery was clearly outside the off-stump. But, Amir was as convinced as ever, and literally forced Sarfaraz to go in for the review, only to be wasted in the end.
Watch Sarfaraz Ahmed take a wasted review:
Pakistan handed a defeat
A spectacular century from David Warner had powered Australia to 307/10 after 49 overs. Mohammad Amir’s maiden 5-wicket haul meant that Australia could not even manage 60 runs in the last 10 overs. Pakistan in reply were 136/2 at one point, but some reckless batting made sure that the experienced Aussie attack handed them a 41 run defeat, bundling them for 266 in 45.4 overs.

Imam-ul-Haq was the top scorer for Pakistan with his 75 ball 53 with the help of 7 boundaries. Wahab Riaz (45 off 39), with some heavy blows had made it a tad interesting, but Mitchell Starc with his 2 wickets in the 45th over clinically sealed the deal for Australia.
