According to ESPN, Adrien Rabiot considers Tottenham ‘below’ his level. The midfielder has been ‘indefinitely benched’ at PSG.
Adrien Rabiot’s transfer saga has picked up pace after talks over a new contract at PSG failed last month. The footballer has been ‘indefinitely benched’, as a result of not signing the new contract.
Rabiot has been heavily linked with Barcelona in the summer transfer window last year, but no deal was put on place by the Catalan side.
As Rabiot denied a new contract at PSG, the speculations over his move to Barcelona increased significantly. As a result, Barca issued a statement denying any talk with Rabiot or his representatives for the move.
Meanwhile, ESPN has now revealed that Tottenham had also approached Adrien Rabiot for a potential transfer. His reply, however, isn’t as polite as the club might have expected.
Rabiot considers Tottenham ‘below’ his level:
According to ESPN’s source, Tottenham are considered below the level of the Paris Saint Germain’s midfielder.
Earlier in December last year, Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique had stated that the midfielder has taken a ‘firm and definitive’ decision to leave the French side. Barcelona, meanwhile, stated that no contract was in place for Rabiot.

Earlier, PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique had revealed that Rabiot denied the chance to extend his contract at the French capital.
“On this point, we will not continue negotiations (with Rabiot),” Henrique said.
“It is a decision made by the club following numerous meetings in which Rabiotinformed us that he will not sign a contract and that he wants to leave the club on a free at the end of the season.
Rabiot refused to play for his national team because he didn’t want to be someone’s replacement. We really don’t need more problems.

“For the player, this holds a very clear consequence: he will remain on the bench indefinitely,” Henrique stated.
Rabiot’s contract with Paris Saint Germain ends at the end of the current season, and the midfielder will be available for free in the summer. The 23-year old footballer is also free to conduct negotiations with other clubs from this month.
