Britt Baker dethrones Hikaru Shida as AEW Women’s Champion at Double or Nothing for her first reign with the women’s title in the company.

Hikaru Shida’s record breaking run with the AEW Women’s Championship has finally come to an end at 373 days. She held the title throughout the pandemic and carried the women’s division during a very difficult and unprecedented time.

In the end, she was finally removed from her perch by Brit Baker at tonights Double or Nothing to crown herself the new AEW Women’s Champion. She did have a little help by her side in the form of Rebel. Regardless, the result is still the same.

Despite being a heel, the crowd seemed to be at Baker’s side, screaming DMD at the top of their lungs. Despite being up against virtually two opponents, Shida put in a performance worthy of a champion. In the end however, the odds were too large to overcome, and she submitted to Baker’s lockjaw.


With this the title has finally changed hands in over a year.

Baker, who was the first female wrestler signed to AEW is now at the top of the mountain, right where she deserves.
