Cody Rhodes on if he will go back on his word and challenge for AEW World Title. The American Nightmare is yet to win the world title at AEW.

Cody Rhodes challenged Chris Jericho for his AEW World Championship at Full Gear back in 2019. The American Nightmare declared that he would never pursue the title again if he failed to overcome Jeicho at the pay per view. This would be his first and last shot at the World Championship.

“Ultimately, that decision will rest on Tony Khan. I’m going to stick to my word. It’s the easiest heel turn in the history of wrestling if I were to break my word, but I love that we are disciplined and conservative and we’re presenting wrestling backward from the big events to every little detail.”

“I don’t want to sound braggadocious or egotistical, but my goal is to never need the World Championship. Yeah, it sucks to watching Kenny Omega or Jon Moxley with the title when I consider myself the 1A of the group, but I gave my word.”

He may have failed to conquer the World Championship but he was the innaugral TNT Champion. He is also the first two-time champion in the title’s young history. Rhodes dropped the title to Darby Allin at lasr year’s Full Gear.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
