Alexa Bliss: Real reason why Nikki Cross is partnering the Goddess in her title match at the upcoming Extreme Rules Pay per view.
Alexa Bliss was set to take on the SmackDown Women’s champion Bayley in singles action. However, Bliss has not been seen on T.V for sometime and Nikki Cross has been doing her bidding in the meanwhile.

Cross has held her own and on multiple occasions and even bested Bayley in a few. One of which saw her win the opportunity to choose the stipulation for Bayley’s match with Alexa Bliss. Nikki then inserted herself in the bout and made it a handicap match to maximise Alexa’s chances at dethroning Bayley.
However, Dave Meltzer has reported that this was not the original plan. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that Bliss is suffering from a “really bad sinus infection”. This has prompted WWE to insert Cross in the match in order to protect Bliss.
Broken Bliss
Bliss has been very unfortunate in recent times succumbing to one injury after the other and now suffering another illness. Bliss had to be pulled out of the fatal 4-way match involving the Raw participants of the Money in the Bank ladder match preceding the Pay per View. She was also pulled out of the eventual ladder match. Nikki Cross was the beneficiary on both occasions.
This time however, the WWE has inserted Cross into the match instead of outright replacing Bliss. It will be interesting to see how much wrestling will the WWE allow Bliss to do. Surely Cross would have wanted the biggest match of her career to come her way under different circumstances. However, if push comes to shove, she has already proven that she can hang in the big leagues. Cross has been terrific on the mic and in the ring ever since she was given this push.
Hopefully Alexa feels a 100% by the time Extreme Rules runs in because she is great at what she does. Also, she had helped build the intrigue around her and Nikki Cross’s storyline very well. It’d be a shame if the WWE had to resort to dropping the angle entirely.
